For those seeking comforting local favorites, the Teriyaki Beef and the Hamachi Kama Yellowtail Collars & Shrimp Tempura Combo deliver deeply savory, umami-packed bites that evoke the warmth of a home-cooked meal. The menu’s variety is impressive, with everything from light appetizers like the Vegetable Tempura and Sweet Potato Tempura Musubi to crowd-pleasing rolls such as the Spicy Tuna Roll, California Roll, and Unagi dishes.

The dining space itself, while showing signs of wear as noted by long-time visitor Leon BIGPAKE Ho, remains clean and thoughtfully adapted for health and safety with plexiglass barriers at every booth—a reassuring touch in today’s dining environment. This balance of accessibility and genuine, uncompromising flavor gives Kabuki a unique charm that loyal customers keep returning for.

Whether you crave the crispy, golden crunch of the Fried Scallops and Shrimp Tempura, the satisfying texture of the Fried Chicken Egg Omelette, or the refreshing sweetness of shaved ice to finish your meal, Kabuki Restaurant and Delicatessen delivers a nourishing and memorable experience worth every visit. The subtle fusion of Japanese culinary tradition with Hawaiian local tastes not only satiates hunger but stirs a deep appreciation for the island’s rich, diverse food culture.

Food is popular ..so phone orders are best to see if food is available.. That way they can give you the best service . And beats waiting in long lines.

I had not been here since the early 1990s but decided wanted to enjoy dinner here. Well the place was kinda run down to be honest. It needs a full make over for sure. The tables were really clean and seats seemed to be redone so it was good seating. They have full plexiglass barriers at every booth for covid safety as well. But they had restaurant supplies piled up where you could see them which is an easy fix to me. But let's get to the food... we had Shrimp Tempura and sashimi. I love my shrimp tempura and it was good. I can say I would enjoy it again if the placed got a face lift. I did enjoy the Japanese kabuki music that plays in the background as you enjoy your meal. Makes you feel more at home.

Teishoku was amazing for the price. Also decided I'd treat myself to something sweet and it was totally worth it it! If you're on the fence, it's definitely worth the time to check out Kabuki.

Our Review of Kabuki Restaurant @ Waimalu Shopping Center. Kabuki Restaurant is a Step Back in Time. Where Culture and Tradition is Alive and Well. Traditional Japanese Dishes are Made in The Time Honored Tradition. No Shortcuts. The Taste of The Good is Authentic. Prices are Reasonable $$. We ordered Shrimp Tenpura Donburi Bowl, Miso Butterfish Teishoku. My Teishoku was Excellent - Chawanmushi (classic and hard to find, not many Japanese Restaurants make this anymore. But done right it is a Treat.) Sashimi, Lettuce Salad, Simmered Pumpkin, Green Tea. My wife's Shrimp Tenpura Donburi is on a bed of Rice, with Miso Soup and a Traditional Tenpura Dipping Sauce with Grated Daikon, that is so Authentic. For Dessert, we had Strawberry Shave Ice with Vanilla Ice Cream and Azuki Beans. We had a Wonderful Time at Kabuki Restaurant and You Will Too. Hugs Wes n Wanda Anzai Mililani Hawaii 5 / 2022 Update March 27, 2024. Play pulled up in front of Kabuki and they have a big sign saying dine in is closed. But the okazuya is open 7 days a week. So I'm guessing there's no table service now only delicatessen takeout. Oh that's too bad. We like the eating in the restaurant and the service and the food, it was awesome.

Bbq ribs plate was delicious. My husband had the butterfish and was pleased with its flavor. Everything we ordered was flavorful. Our waitress who was a small short japanese local young lady forgot her name but has short hair and had it up in two buns gave us excellent and pleasant service. She was consistent but gave us space enjoying our dinner. My little girl loved her ice cream shave ice! Yum!!

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in the Aiea/Pearl City area. The food and price are great. I usually get their 2 choice Japanese food combo. However, my favorite is their Nama Chirashi bowl. The mix of seafood types, the quality and quantity of the seafood is outstanding. I've tried Chirashi bowls from other Japanese restaurants in the area (Mililani Sakura, Waikele, Zippys PC, etc) , but none can compare at their price. See attached photos of this and other dishes we ordered. My grandson had the kiddie plate, and the others were 2 x combo teshokus. Mine was the last Nama Chirashi.
